Professional flutist Trevor Wye is a household name for any woodwind musician. His best know published works are the six Practice Books for the Flute and the critically-acclaimed biography of former teacher and celebrated flutist, Marcel Moyse. Despite not receiving Conservatoire training himself, he was a professor at the Guildhall School of Music, Manchester for 22 years. The latter awarded him an honorary degree in 1990. He was the founder of the British Flute Society, and in 2011 received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the USA National Flute Association.
