Hernández after Rottenburgh

in Boxwood

 A=415Hz

GODFRIDUS ADRIANUS ROTTENBURGH (1703 - 1768)

He was the son of J. H. Rottenburgh and followed him his work as an instrument maker. Several of this sensitive builder´s original flutes have been preserved.

The most copied model comes from the collection of Barthold Kuijken, who has used it in several concerts and recordings.

The original flute was built around 1745 and was made of boxwood and was dyed and treated with violin varnish. Its body has seven parts and it is equipped with a foot register, which makes fine tuning adjustments.

Its round embouchure and balanced sound and make the Rottenburgh a universal flute, which can cover a wide baroque repertoire.
